Holiday Message to ICP Liaisons, Facilitators, Board, Donors and Friends
Humanity is locked in a historical circle/cycle of emergence and regression. In 2025, the world saw global chaos, war, rising poverty and inequality. You are the solution, I am convinced.
Yet how can we emerge from the cycle of repression and revolution, both of which entail violence and do little to sustain the peace?
In our aspirations and work, you are with me, and I am with you.
We seek long-term strategies for peace: a global community of Cities of Peace dedicated to safety, prosperity and quality of life — not just for the wealthy — for ALL people. Can nation-states, which are inherently in competition with each other, stop our painful historical circles and let us emerge into a spiraling progress beneficial to all humanity?
I think you’ll agree that something more is needed.
When power is centralized, there will always be those who take power over others. International Cities of Peace decentralizes power by helping peacemakers gain authority, develop ideas and implement actions for a sustainable culture of peace.
The City of Peace ideal to which we prescribe is as old as civilization. We gather with the intention of peace and put practical measures into place. It is difficult, I know. No community is 100% a City of Peace and there are many blocks in the road to peace.
How do we proceed in 2026?
Keep the faith in peace and consider these actions:
• Build strong Peace Teams
• Develop practical Action Plans
• Reach out to mentor others to form Cities of Peace
• Make separate plans to Increase safety, prosperity and quality of life
• Focus on your community rather than trying to save the whole world
• Post your community progress each week on our member Facebook page
• Take advantage of the benefits of membership in ICP
• Don’t get lost in or frustrated by global news
• Do more, talk less, preach less, zoom less, yes, do more
• Keep the faith that peace will prevail
I hold you all in my heart. International Cities of Peace was founded on the principles of respect for in-situ leaders. We are one human family working in homes and communities to make a better world for children. Indeed, all of us are children of peace: learning, questioning, emerging from childhood dreams into the profound maturity of humanity.
Thank you for all your work.
Because of you, 500 working Cities of Peace are within our grasp.
The larger we become together, the larger the difference we will make individually.
In 2026, we will endeavor onward and, yes, always upward!
